OSU’s National Student Speech Language Hearing Association will be hosting the 12th Annual Ohio Statewide NSSLHA Conference for the first time since 2010! It will be on Sunday, November 19th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Ohio Union, with registration opening at 9:15 a.m. Going off of the theme “Keep Calm and Lead On,” Ohio State undergraduates from across disciplines are invited to attend two lectures and three workshops focusing on personal growth, professional development, and leadership skills. Professional headshots will also be taken, so wear your best business casual outfit! OSU faculty, graduate students, and professionals from the Columbus community will be sharing their knowledge to help facilitate student development. A light breakfast and packed lunch will be provided along with raffles and many take-away gifts! We look forward to seeing you all there!

*After lunch, the attendees will split into three groups and rotate through three 45 minute breakout sessions:
1. Graduate School Panel, faciliated by Dr. Rebecca McCauley, the Chair of the Speech-Language Pathology Oversight Subcommittee
2. “The Other M.D.:” Service Learning and Animal Assisted Therapy in Pediatric Rehabilitation, featuring service dogs-in-training!
3. “Undergraduate to Graduate Professionalism and Leadership”. During this session, attendees will have the opportunity for a professional headshot to update their LinkedIn and other online profiles.
4:45 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Closing Remarks
NSSLHA is partnering with CycleBar in October! We will have our own class, and get the full cycle bar treatment! Included in the cost is a 50 minute ride, a water bottle, a towel (during the ride), plus food and drink after the ride! The cost is only $15 and you can bring family and friends with you! We have a NSSLHA meeting this Thursday, September 14th. It is at 6:30 p.m. in French East room 135. Our theme for this meeting is professionalism! We will have guest speakers from the Learning Assistance Center discussing resumes and will be offering free professional headshots during the meeting. We will also be enjoying bagels from Big Apple Bagels.

Do you want to get involved in NSSLHA? Join the NSSLHA Mentoring Program, which aims to foster relationships between upperclassmen and underclassmen, to increase overall knowledge and awareness of information within the Communication Sciences and Disorders field, and to serve as a pipeline between NSSLHA members, the campus, and surrounding communities. Being part of a CSD family opens up so many great opportunities. With your CSD family, you will have the opportunity to plan and take part in a Community Service Event, while making friendships with peers and making connections with the community.
